Jesus Heals The Paralytic
The Bible contains many accounts of Jesus healing the sick and afflicted. One such account is depicted The Chosen Season 1 Episode 6. This is the popular story Jesus healing the paralytic man.
This astonishing turn of events took place in the city of Capernaum, where apostles Peter and Andrew lived.
Below is the passage about the paralytic man, as it’s found in the second chapter of Mark:
1 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home.
2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them.
3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them.
4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 “Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things?
9 Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk’?
10 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man,
11 “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”
12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them.

Jesus was becoming well-known throughout the land because of his teachings and miracles. People sought Him out more and more to receive the kind of help no one else could offer. He helped the blind to see, sick to heal, and in this case, the paralyzed to walk.
What Can We Learn From the Story About Jesus Healing the Paralytic?
When Jesus, before healing the man of his paralysis, forgave him of his sins, it offended a lot of onlookers—particularly members of the Sanhedrin, or the Jewish leaders, in Capernaum. Though many had gathered to observe and learn, these individuals were there to criticize and chastise Jesus for departing from tradition.
This group believed that only God could forgive sins, and were yet unconvinced of Jesus’ divine identity.
Jesus, knowing that these individuals took offense at His forgiving the paralytic man’s sins, proclaimed that, just as He had the power to heal the sick and afflicted, He also had the power to forgive sins.
When Jesus told the paralytic man to get up and walk, he immediately stood and did so. To the wonderment of all who were looking on, Jesus had healed the man physically, as well as spiritually.
